Exercise 3: Presentation of a Professional Journal"

Objectives:
  • You learn to know different English and American LIS-resources

Please work in teams of three students.

In this exercise you'll improve your presentation techniques by preparing a presentation of a LIS journal for the seminar group. The journal your group is asked to talk about will be alloted to you during the seminar.
Getting started: Open the Database LISA (Bibliothek - Digitale Bibliothek - alphabetisch - Lisa) Go to: http://www-md2.csa.com/factsheets/supplements/lisa.php and find out, whether the titles of our list are monitored for inclusion in Lisa


Tip: It might be helpfull to consult the "Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek" (remember Information Research I ;-)) for further information on 'your resource'.

Part One (until 11th of May): Please have a look at the latest issue of the journal that has been assigned to your group and decide on an article you will present on the 25th of May. Your choice should reflect something typical for 'your journal'. A research in LISA may help you to find out more about articles that might interest you.

Part Two (until 25th of May) : Prepare an 8 minutes presentation of your journal. Your presentation should include the following aspects:
